Embracing Agriculture's Legacy and Shaping a Sustainable Future
Welcome, I'm glad you're here.
I grew up as one of three daughters to my hard-working parents. I learned to love good cattle and how to manage those cattle from my dad. My mom taught me how to balance family life with the ranch and the rest of my life. Today, my husband and I live on our family's ranch, Martin Cattle Company, raising our children to learn many of life's lessons that are best taught by working with livestock and the land.
I hold a degree in Agriculture Communications from the University of Arkansas. While at the U of A, I was a member of the livestock judging team, a fellow working to create the first Arkansas Women in Agriculture Conference, and a winner of the Arkansas Farm Bureau collegiate discussion meet, which is where I learned that being an agvocate was so important to me.
Also during my time in college, my husband served in Operation Iraqi Freedom with the Arkansas Army National Guard. As a newlywed attending college during this time, these were transformative years in my life and our marriage.
Today, I'm a proud mom of two children who work alongside me on our farm. We raise purebred Hereford, Gelbvieh and Balancer cattle. We also have a small herd of goats. My kids show livestock, are active 4-H members and play an important part on our multigenerational farm, working alongside their grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousin.
I proudly represent the sixth generation of my family to call our beef cattle farm home. This heritage has instilled in me a profound appreciation for the value of hard work, resilience, and the essential role that agriculture plays in our society. Each day, I am fueled by the responsibility to honor and preserve this legacy, while also embracing the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
One of the aspects I love most about being an agriculture advocate is the chance to work with diverse groups of people, united by a common goal. I firmly believe that collaboration is the key to addressing the complex issues facing our industry. By bringing together farmers, ranchers, policymakers, scientists, and consumers, we can foster innovative solutions and ensure a sustainable future for agriculture.
As a problem solver, I thrive on tackling the tough challenges that come my way. From finding ways to improve productivity and efficiency on our farm to advocating for policies that support rural communities, I am dedicated to making a positive impact. I firmly believe that by seeking innovative approaches and embracing change, we can overcome any obstacle and build a stronger, more resilient agricultural sector. At the same time, I value agriculture's legacy of hard work, devotion to the land, and farm families. I believe we have much to learn from the generations before us.
Beyond my role as an advocate, I cherish my roles as a mom and a wife. They provide me with a deep sense of purpose and remind me daily of the importance of nurturing and caring for those around me. Through my experiences as a mother, I am even more committed to creating a sustainable future for the next generation and ensuring they inherit a world where agriculture thrives.
I invite you to join me on this journey as we explore the wonders of agriculture, learn from one another, and work together to shape a brighter future. Together, we can cultivate a world where farming and ranching are celebrated, where rural communities flourish, and where the legacy of agriculture endures for generations to come. Thank you for being a part of this incredible adventure.
